Alex Lowes completes motorcycle licence training after years of racing
The 2013 BSB champion and four-time WorldSBK winner passed his CBT, Module 1 and Module 2 training on Kawasaki motorcycles.

Alex Lowes has completed the training and tests required for a motorcycle licence, resolving an unusual gap in the CV of a rider who won the 2013 British Superbike title and four WorldSBK races. Lowes has competed at world level since 2014, but riding on public roads was a new challenge after so many years focused on racing circuits.
Derby Kawasaki arranged the process in partnership with Shires Motorcycle Training. Lowes started with his CBT on a Kawasaki Z125, then continued his larger-bike training on Kawasaki machinery. He subsequently completed the Module 1 and Module 2 tests, progressing through the stages of the licensing process rather than treating road riding as simply another form of racing.
Lowes described his first real experience on the road as strange and somewhat demanding. After years of racing, he had to account for the potential hazards of normal traffic even while travelling at lower speeds. He nevertheless called the experience highly beneficial and said he particularly enjoyed the Module 2 training day.
The completed training comes as Lowes prepares for his 14th consecutive WorldSBK season with the factory Bimota by Kawasaki WorldSBK Team. Axel Bassani will once again be his teammate; Bassani is described as having been alongside Lowes since 2014.
