Aaron Plessinger is moving to Triumph on a two-year agreement covering AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross. He will race the TF 450-X for 5.11 Triumph Factory Racing, while also taking an important role in the manufacturer’s 450 development programme ahead of the 2027 SuperMotocross World Championship.

The deal brings his five-season run with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to an end and gives Triumph an established race winner as its programme continues to build at the highest level. Triumph’s objective is direct: fight for race wins and championships while continuing to develop its off-road racing operation. Plessinger’s contribution is therefore intended to extend beyond the results recorded on race weekends.

Experience that feeds into development

Plessinger will have to get comfortable with the TF 450-X’s power delivery, chassis and electronics. He arrives after five seasons on an established KTM platform, while Triumph’s motorcycle is still at an early stage of its competitive life. The manufacturer expects him to turn his experience into useful input for the bike’s continuing development. Plessinger has said that he believes in the potential of both the team and the TF 450-X.

There is also an existing working relationship behind the move. Jeremy Coker, general manager of Triumph Racing America, was an engine technician with Star Yamaha Racing when Plessinger won the 2018 250SX West and 250 Motocross titles. Coker has described Plessinger in highly positive terms and regards the opportunity to work together again as a special one.

Paris debut planned for November

Plessinger’s first scheduled Triumph appearance is at the company’s Global Dealer Conference in Thailand, running from October 6 to 9 and expected to draw roughly 1,200 dealers. He will then go to Triumph’s facility in the Atlanta area to establish the TF 450-X’s initial settings. His first competitive outing for Triumph is planned for the Paris Supercross in November. An extensive testing and development programme will follow that event as the team prepares for the 2027 season.
