EL.MO.T.O. has set out the timeline of its interventions on the new Highway Code and on issues that directly affect motorcycles and their riders. The federation says its work has taken place both on the streets and at an institutional level, pursuing rules that support road safety and treat motorcyclists fairly.

The key dates

The timeline begins on 13 April 2024, when EL.MO.T.O. called a protest ride in Syntagma Square. The gathering involved 124 motorcycles. On 11 June 2025, during Parliament’s discussion of the new code’s articles, the federation submitted its positions on provisions directly affecting two-wheeled users.

On 21 July 2025, EL.MO.T.O. published a protest resolution on the new Highway Code alongside an online petition that passed 13,000 signatures. The next major step came on 25 March 2026, with the publication of documented positions and proposals on the relevant provisions.

Legal and road-safety input

The 25 March document was prepared by EL.MO.T.O.’s legal adviser and Supreme Court lawyer Theodoros Gazoulis, together with Thanasis Chountras, the federation’s special adviser on road-safety and education matters. Through this timeline, EL.MO.T.O. presents its involvement as an ongoing effort rather than a response to one isolated moment or a single issue.
