KTM and Husqvarna are adding the SX-E 2.12 and EE 2.12 to their 2027 electric youth motocross ranges. The closely related motorcycles sit between the smaller SX-E 2 and EE 2 and the larger SX-E 3 and EE 3, respectively. Their 12-inch front wheels and intermediate dimensions are intended to bridge the step for riders who have outgrown the smallest bikes while remaining within the mini-motocross category.

A hub motor keeps the drivetrain simple

Both machines use an aluminium frame and a hub-mounted electric motor producing maximum power of 1.8 kW. It is built into the rear wheel, removing the chain and sprockets and reducing both maintenance requirements and the number of drivetrain parts exposed during a fall. Husqvarna converts the output to 2.41 horsepower, while KTM quotes maximum torque of 50 Nm.

The EE 2.12 carries a removable 9.4 Ah lithium-ion battery with IP65 protection, identified as model 40-B330X. Its external charger can deliver up to 500 W, supports both 110 V and 230 V outlets, and takes approximately one hour to reach a full charge.

Power control, suspension and adjustability

Safety equipment shared by the two bikes includes a tilt sensor that cuts electrical power if the motorcycle goes down, plus a wrist safety lanyard linked to an emergency stop switch. Husqvarna gives the EE 2.12 three riding modes with different top speeds. On the KTM, an illuminated multi-function handlebar display uses colour coding to identify the selected mode.

The SX-E 2.12 uses a conventional hydraulic WP fork with 90 mm of travel and a 34 mm hydraulic rear monoshock. The shock is mounted directly to the swingarm, offers 70 mm of travel and has adjustable preload. KTM lists a 566 mm seat height—66 mm higher than the SX-E 2—and a claimed weight of 29 kg.

The EE 2.12 adds two seat-height positions, at 536 mm and 566 mm, while optional handlebar risers provide another ergonomic adjustment. WP suspension, slim ODI grips and KENDA Trakmaster tyres complete the equipment package. The European price for both 2027 models is cited at around €2,800.
