Kawasaki previews a new Versys ahead of its October 13 reveal
The teasers suggest a four-cylinder sport-tourer, most likely a Versys 900 positioned between the existing 650 and 1100.

Kawasaki has set October 13 for the full unveiling of a new motorcycle, and the strongest candidate is a Versys 900. Two teaser videos have already appeared, each built around the word “Destination.” Their glimpses point to a tall motorcycle with adventure-inspired styling, though its intended use appears primarily road-based rather than focused on difficult off-road riding.
The first video places the viewer behind the rider on mountain roads, with an inline-Four soundtrack. One brief view through the windscreen suggests a fairly high mounting position, making a Versys-style machine more plausible than another Ninja sport-tourer. The second clip offers a clearer, if still fleeting, look at the front end. It shows a headlight, a pair of auxiliary lights and comparatively high handlebars. The headlight treatment also recalls Kawasaki’s recently launched KLE500.
A possible middle ground in the Versys range
Additional frames from the rear appear to show a flat platform behind the passenger seat, a practical shape that could support luggage. The front fairing and screen create a noticeably smaller visual profile than the more aggressive front ends of the Versys 650 and Versys 1100.
Kawasaki Europe has announced the 2027 Versys 650 and Versys 1100 without changes. Spy photographs of a motorcycle believed to be a Versys 900 also surfaced online last month, strengthening the case for a new model between those two machines. That positioning would give Kawasaki a straightforward way to broaden the Versys family without replacing either existing version.
The engine is the main technical question. The Z900’s inline-Four has a displacement of 948 cc, making it a plausible basis for a taller, more touring-oriented motorcycle. That possibility fits the engine note heard in the teasers and would give the new machine a clear identity in the range, but it is not yet a confirmed specification. Kawasaki is expected to settle the model’s name and technical details when the motorcycle is revealed on October 13.
