2027 Kawasaki KLR650 DF adds bigger protection bars
The new DF joins the 2027 KLR650 range with standard ABS, larger crash protection and a $7,699 starting price.

Kawasaki is expanding the 2027 KLR650 family with the DF, a variant positioned between the standard motorcycle and the Adventure. The DF name comes from “Durable Force”. The returning range also includes the base KLR650, the low-seat KLR650 S and the Adventure version.
Its most visible change is the set of large protective bars surrounding the fairings in the event of a tip-over. They are substantially larger than the bars used on the Adventure, giving the DF a more utilitarian presence. The DF also includes ABS as standard, but leaves out the Adventure’s hard luggage, fog lights and charging sockets.
Versions, colors and pricing
The base KLR650 starts at $6,999 and is available only in Metallic Spark Black. Adding ABS raises the price to $7,299. The KLR650 S follows the same structure, with a $6,999 starting price and a $7,299 ABS version, also finished in Metallic Spark Black.
The KLR650 DF ABS starts at $7,699 in Metallic Flat Raw Graystone. The KLR650 Adventure ABS starts at $8,199 in Metallic Bluish Green, while the Cypher Camo Beige/Pearl Matte Sand Khaki option costs $8,299. The KLR650 variants are expected to reach dealerships in early December.
