Toprak Razgatlioglu will not return to action for the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season. The shoulder dislocation suffered during practice for the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika proved more serious than first thought after further medical assessments, and the rider will undergo surgery in the coming days.

His absence covers the championship’s five remaining rounds. Yamaha is expected to call on its test rider, Augusto Fernandez, to replace Razgatlioglu during that period. The change comes before the Australian Grand Prix, a race Razgatlioglu had been particularly keen to contest on the MotoGP bike at Phillip Island.

Why surgery became the priority

Razgatlioglu said he was extremely disappointed to miss the Australian event. Phillip Island is one of his favourite circuits and, in his words, a venue linked to special moments from his Superbike career. This Grand Prix will also be the final MotoGP event at the circuit.

The Turkish rider explained that opting for surgery was not an easy decision, but consultations with doctors and people close to him convinced him it was the right step for his future. The aim is to give him the best chance of making a full recovery and returning at 100%. He also wished Jack and the entire team well for their home Grand Prix.
