Tech3 has confirmed Senna Agius for its 2027 MotoGP line-up, with Luca Marini joining him as the team’s other rider. The 20-year-old Australian will arrive in the premier class as the championship enters a major transition, with the 2027 season set to begin the 850cc engine and Pirelli tyre era.

Tech3 CEO Guenther Steiner said Agius impressed the team with his speed and maturity, but especially with his determination and attitude towards the work required to keep improving. Tech3 is seeking a blend of experience and youthful ability, while recognising that the Australian will have plenty to learn during his first MotoGP campaign.

A route to MotoGP without Moto3

Agius took an unusual route to the premier class. He skipped Moto3 and moved into the Grand Prix paddock’s intermediate category after winning the 2023 European Moto2 championship. During his rookie Moto2 season with Intact GP, he scored a podium. He then took two Grand Prix victories in 2025 and has added two more so far in 2026, already establishing a record as a proven winner on Pirelli tyres.

The progression is visible in the standings as well. Agius was 18th in 2024, rose to 10th in 2025 and is currently fourth in the 2026 championship. Steiner said the results, together with the rider’s maturity and commitment to his work, give Tech3 confidence that he can make a very strong step into MotoGP.

The signing is part of a broader reshaping of the 2027 grid. Enea Bastianini will move to Trackhouse Aprilia, while Maverick Vinales has no place on next year’s MotoGP grid and is currently sidelined by ongoing shoulder problems. Jack Miller will also leave MotoGP, with a confirmed WorldSBK seat for the following season.
