MotoGP will visit Phillip Island for the last time in 2026, before Australia’s Grand Prix moves to Adelaide in 2027. The change gives the upcoming weekend extra significance at a circuit that has become one of the championship’s defining venues through its fast corners and unpredictable weather.

Fabio Quartararo’s own record at Phillip Island is modest. His best MotoGP result there is ninth, and he has achieved only one other top-ten finish at the venue across his grand prix career. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider still regards the circuit as unusually distinctive compared with most of the calendar. After using the break to recharge ahead of the season’s final races, Quartararo said he would give the weekend his 100 per cent, with the final Phillip Island appearance adding a special dimension to the event.

Alex Rins brings a stronger Phillip Island record to the occasion, having won there with Suzuki in 2022. The Spaniard says the circuit has always been one he enjoys and that it holds positive memories from different phases of his career. Its final MotoGP weekend makes this round more meaningful for him, but the sporting task remains clear: savour every lap while doing a good job for the Monster Energy Yamaha team. Rins also said the team had used the break to prepare and was ready to get the weekend underway.
