Mugello secures the Italian Grand Prix through 2031
A new five-year agreement keeps MotoGP’s Italian round at the historic Tuscan circuit.

Mugello will remain the venue for MotoGP’s Italian Grand Prix through 2031 under a new five-year agreement. The deal was announced before the official presentation of the full 2027 calendar, preserving one of the championship’s most distinctive circuits on the schedule.
MotoGP Deputy CEO Carlos Ezpeleta described Mugello as one of the championship’s “spiritual homes”. As reported by Crash.net, he linked the circuit’s importance to the history of MotoGP and the passion of Italian fans. Mugello held its first motorcycle Grand Prix in 1976 and has hosted the official Italian round continuously since 1994.
This year’s event set an attendance record of 178,723 spectators across the race weekend. Italy is the only country apart from Spain to stage more than one MotoGP round in a season, with Misano hosting the San Marino Grand Prix. Paolo Poli, CEO and Director of Mugello Circuit, connected the renewal with the circuit’s work alongside Ferrari and its goal of remaining an international reference point. The agreement also strengthens Mugello’s position at a time when, according to Crash.net, Phillip Island is set to leave the calendar after the current season.
