MotoGP leaves Hungary off the 2027 calendar
Balaton Park will not host a third race, although MotoGP Group says Hungary could return in the future.

Hungary will not appear on the 2027 MotoGP calendar, MotoGP Group has confirmed. The decision comes only two years after the country returned to the championship: Balaton Park staged Hungary’s first Grand Prix since 1992 in 2025.
That comeback was not without difficulties. Crash.net described Balaton Park as a tight, slow-speed circuit, while asphalt break-up during the 2026 event brought further criticism. Neither of the two races drew a high attendance, and the 2026 weekend was also affected by a change of promoter.
Plans had previously been discussed to move the Hungarian round to the Hungaroring from 2027. MotoGP Group nevertheless said Hungary remains an important destination and that it will work with the relevant authorities to explore opportunities for a future return. The full 2027 calendar was scheduled to be presented on Friday.
What is taking shape for 2027
- Thailand is scheduled to open the season on 5–7 March.
- Valencia will host the finale on 26–28 November.
- The Argentina Grand Prix is expected to return, moving from Termas de Rio Hondo to Buenos Aires.
- The Austrian Grand Prix is expected to move back to its August slot.
- The running of this season’s Qatar Grand Prix remained under review because of the war in Iran. Carmelo Ezpeleta had said the plan was still to hold the race in November.
