Miller’s Misano crash became a two-stage technical failure
Jack Miller could not rejoin after his Turn 8 crash, with a traction-control error followed by a clutch problem.

Jack Miller’s Misano MotoGP retirement began with a crash at Turn 8 but was completed by two technical problems. The Pramac Yamaha rider went down on lap three while fighting for points. He was able to pick up the bike, yet a traction-control error and then a clutch issue prevented him from returning to the race.
Miller had made progress at the start, passing riders on the opening lap as he tried to reach the points-paying positions. His battle with Johann Zarco continued after an earlier attempt to attack at Turn 1. At Turn 8, the riders were braking late and running away from the ideal line. Miller was wider than the others and said he tried to force the corner a little harder. The front then gave way.
According to Miller, he lifted the Yamaha relatively quickly, but riding through the gravel triggered a TC error. He switched the bike off and tried to restart it in the hope of clearing the fault. Once it was turned off, however, the clutch began to slip and the engine would not fire. The attempted recovery therefore ended without him making it back onto the circuit.
A missed chance after setup work
The crash was particularly frustrating because Miller felt the bike had reached its best point of the weekend by race day. The team had spent the event searching for a workable setup, changing the headstock angle on the previous night. Between warm-up and the race, it also moved towards a longer and softer configuration while trying to give Miller a motorcycle that was competitive and comfortable to ride.
The early retirement meant Miller never had the chance to assess that progress over race distance. Turn 8 later ended Johann Zarco’s race as well, when the French rider crashed there near the end of the MotoGP event. For Miller, the decisive sequence was not simply the fall: the electronics error and the subsequent clutch failure made a return impossible.
