Martin and Marquez share the MotoGP lead before Austria
Both riders have 274 points, while Martin heads to the Red Bull Ring with his arm pump issue still a factor.

Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez arrive at the Austrian Grand Prix level on 274 points at the top of the MotoGP championship. Marquez is listed first and Aprilia rider Martin second through the results count-back. The tie was established after Marquez won the San Marino Grand Prix—his fifth victory of the season—while Martin took fifth after suffering an arm pump problem.
Martin said he finds it surprising to be alongside Marquez on points at this stage of the campaign. The Misano weekend still offered him something positive: during the opening 11 laps, he ran with Marquez and managed to overtake him. He now hopes to recover that feeling and speed, with enough physical strength to remain close to the championship rival through the finish.
A physical question at the Red Bull Ring
The arm pump problem had raised the possibility of an operation after the Austrian Grand Prix. Martin said his recovery had gone quite well and that he would treat the weekend as a normal event rather than focus on the issue. If it returns, he will decide what to do next. In his view, the Red Bull Ring is not one of the circuits most likely to create a heavy physical workload in this particular respect.
Martin also brings a strong record at the Austrian circuit. He claimed his first MotoGP win there in 2021 with Pramac Ducati, and on his latest visit he finished second in both races. This will be his first Austrian Grand Prix at the venue as an Aprilia rider, after injury ruled him out of the previous edition. The championship tie therefore meets a familiar circuit, but one where Martin’s physical condition remains an important variable.
