Marquez’s mental release powers Misano MotoGP victory
Aragon, a candid post about his right arm and a changed approach helped Marc Marquez return to the championship lead.

Marc Marquez won the Misano MotoGP and moved into a tie at the top of the championship standings. In his account, the result was also the product of a change in how he managed his situation: after his double result at Aragon and the week that followed, he arrived at Misano with a greater sense of mental freedom.
Speaking on MotoGP.com’s After the Flag post-race show, Marquez described the weekend as the first time this season that he had genuinely felt free and relaxed. His speed was already strong in the opening free-practice session, which allowed him to concentrate on riding. That came after two seventh-place finishes at Silverstone, where he had struggled with reduced strength in his right arm, and the subsequent double result at Aragon.
What changed after Aragon
Marquez said Aragon was the first step in changing his mentality. The following week, he posted a social-media photograph showing the loss of muscle in his right arm. He explained that the decision helped him focus, relax and speak openly about what he could offer physically, rather than hiding his limitations.
In Marquez’s view, that shift strengthened his belief that he could fight for the championship. He credited the Aragon victory with giving him momentum, while the following week provided the confidence and mental approach he needed.
In the Misano Sprint, Marquez attributed part of the win to a strategy based on a medium-compound rear tyre. In the main race, he benefited when Marco Bezzecchi made a mistake. The new sense of freedom does not mean he expects a risk-free title run: Marquez said he would keep trying to extract the maximum from every weekend while accepting that mistakes remain possible in racing.
