Mandalika MotoGP: Marquez leads as Martin chases a turnaround
Marc Marquez starts the Indonesian Grand Prix at the top of the standings, while Jorge Martin needs victory to retake the lead.

Marc Marquez goes into the Mandalika MotoGP race leading the world championship. The Indonesian Grand Prix is scheduled for 3:00pm local time, or 8:00am in the UK, with the contest against Jorge Martin still finely balanced after the Sprint.
The championship advantage changed hands during a difficult Sprint for Martin. The Aprilia rider encountered tyre-pressure problems while running at the front, then surrendered two more places after a decisive late scare. Aprilia had also seen Raul Fernandez and Marco Bezzecchi start from the first two grid positions, but their opportunity ended when they collided at Turn 1.
That left Ai Ogura as the only RS-GP rider on the Sprint podium, with the Japanese rider finishing second between Marquez and Fabio di Giannantonio. The Grand Prix gives Martin a direct route back to the top: victory would guarantee that he retakes the championship lead. Marquez, a nine-time world champion, is also chasing a Mandalika milestone of his own, having never finished a Sunday race at the circuit.
