Mandalika delayed as Bezzecchi leads MotoGP FP1
A connectivity failure affecting the stewards’ room and timekeeping changed the Indonesian Grand Prix schedule.

The 2026 Indonesian Grand Prix schedule at Mandalika was disrupted by a connectivity failure affecting the stewards’ room and timekeeping system. Moto2 FP2, which had started at 7:05am BST, was stopped by a red flag with 12 minutes and 27 seconds remaining. Race director Graham Webber said the affected operations could not function normally while the connection was being restored.
The problem was resolved at 8:12am BST, but MotoGP’s hour-long Practice did not begin at its scheduled 8:00am start. The session was moved to 8:35am BST. Mandalika has also experienced an earlier event-related disruption: the circuit’s first Grand Prix in 2022 was affected by an asphalt problem that led to a shorter race distance.
Bezzecchi sets the FP1 benchmark
Marco Bezzecchi led the morning FP1 session for Aprilia with a 1:30.132. Marc Marquez was second on the factory Ducati, 0.237 seconds adrift, while Jorge Martin took third on the factory Aprilia. Martin and Marquez were separated by two points at the top of the championship standings before the rest of the Mandalika weekend.
Mandalika remains a difficult venue for Marquez. He has yet to finish a Grand Prix there and suffered a serious shoulder injury in a collision the previous year. Friday’s FP1 also saw crashes for Diogo Moreira, Ai Ogura and Fermin Aldeguer. Aldeguer won last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix in dominant fashion, giving his return to the circuit an additional competitive angle.
