Luca Marini moves to Tech3 for MotoGP’s 2027 season
Experience and a methodical approach convinced Guenther Steiner, as Tech3 prepares a new pairing with rookie Senna Agius.

Luca Marini will race for Tech3 in MotoGP in 2027, moving to a third manufacturer as the championship enters its new 850cc and Pirelli era. He will be joined by Senna Agius, a MotoGP rookie, in a new Tech3 rider pairing.
Tech3 CEO Guenther Steiner says the decision was not based on speed alone. Marini’s experience, calm temperament and methodical way of thinking were central to the choice. Steiner wants those qualities to help the team develop in a disciplined way, allowing it to make progress while taking the time needed to reach the right decisions rather than reacting in haste.
Marini spent three seasons racing Ducati machinery before completing three years as a factory Honda rider. He enters the final seven rounds of his Honda tenure as the leading RC213V rider, while holding 11th place in the world championship. His move to Tech3 will therefore bring experience from a third manufacturer into the next technical and sporting phase of MotoGP.
A new direction for Tech3
The change follows Enea Bastianini’s move to Trackhouse Aprilia. Maverick Viñales, Tech3’s other current rider, has been left out of MotoGP and has not yet announced his plans for 2027. Steiner also told Crash.net that he had met Marini several times, including for around 45 minutes at Monza during a Formula 1 race. Tech3 is now building around Marini’s established MotoGP experience alongside Agius as it prepares for the next era.
