Jorge Martin has been cleared to continue the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang after a medical assessment following FP1. The Aprilia rider had already passed an initial examination before the opening session, but his condition was reviewed again after the injured wrist had been put through its first track outing. Aprilia subsequently announced that Martin was fit to race at the Malaysian GP.

Martin completed 12 laps in the 45-minute FP1 session and ended it in 20th place. His best lap was 1.8 seconds slower than Marc Marquez’s fastest time. The wrist fracture is not displaced, but Aprilia team manager Paolo Bonora stressed that Martin must not take unnecessary risks or crash onto the injured area again. His participation is therefore tied to whether he can complete the race safely, rather than simply endure the pain and keep pushing.

Martin suffered the injury in the Phillip Island Sprint and trails Marquez by 10 points. The contrasting development at Sepang concerns Raul Fernandez, who will not take any further part in the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Trackhouse Aprilia rider started FP1, but a fractured right index finger from a Turn 1 crash in the Indonesian Sprint prevented him from riding properly.

Following an immediate assessment by the Championship Medical Director, Fernandez was declared unfit to continue in Malaysia. The two injury cases therefore have different outcomes: Martin remains available for the rest of the weekend, while Fernandez’s Malaysian GP is over after the opening session.
