Illness forces Alex Rins out of the Misano MotoGP
The Monster Yamaha rider stopped on lap 17, while Joan Mir also retired after struggling physically.

Alex Rins could not complete Sunday’s Misano MotoGP after a migraine and severe nausea made it impossible for him to continue. The Monster Yamaha rider had started from 20th position and fell to the back of the field on lap two, when Pramac’s Toprak Razgatlioglu passed him.
Rins remained at the rear but continued for ten laps in the vicinity of Franco Morbidelli after the VR46 rider served a Long Lap Penalty. His race ended when he entered the pits on lap 17 of 27. Yamaha team director Massimo Meregalli said the early retirement was disappointing, but stressed that safety must take priority, particularly in MotoGP.
Yamaha now heads to Spielberg for the next Austrian Grand Prix. Jack Miller also stopped in the pits, although his retirement was caused by a technical issue. Fabio Quartararo and Razgatlioglu were consequently the only Yamaha riders to finish, classified 10th and 12th respectively.
Joan Mir of HRC also ended his race for physical reasons. He came into the pits from last place on lap six, shortly after Rins had passed him. Mir said he lacked energy and power on the bike and would undergo checks before Austria to determine how he could return his physical condition to normal. Free practice for the Austrian MotoGP starts on Friday morning.
