Honda is preparing a “full circle moment” announcement ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. The teaser belongs to The Dream. The Challenge, the series following Honda’s MotoGP programme. Crash.net reports that the episode is scheduled for 1 October, one day before the practice day at Mobility Resort Motegi.

Honda launched the series in June to revisit its history in the premier Grand Prix category. The timing coincides with the 60th anniversary of the manufacturer’s entry into the 500cc class, now known as MotoGP. The silhouette in the teaser is the 2026-season RC213V. That points towards a symbolic Motegi-related presentation rather than an announcement tied to the start of the 850cc era in 2027.

Why Nakagami’s wildcard is relevant

Crash.net considers a special, historically inspired livery for Takaaki Nakagami’s wildcard motorcycle the most likely explanation. Honda has not confirmed that description. The theory is supported by Honda keeping Nakagami’s wildcard after Joan Mir withdrew from the Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix for health reasons. Somkiat Chantra was brought in to replace Mir in Japan.

The entry also carries extra significance because Nakagami’s wildcard is expected to be the last used in MotoGP before wildcards are banned from the following season. The championship is nearing the end of its 1,000cc and Michelin era as well. Crash.net argues that Honda has limited reason to pursue highly experimental development in the remaining races, since those solutions would have little value after the 2027 transition.

Honda has not yet disclosed what the announcement will contain. Its timing, the Motegi home round, the 60th anniversary and the final planned wildcard use create a clear historical context, but they do not confirm the eventual RC213V design or the precise form of the presentation.
