Andrea Dovizioso has voiced serious concern about Pecco Bagnaia’s position at Ducati. The 15-time MotoGP race winner said Bagnaia’s behaviour and comments troubled him because the Italian appeared to be going through genuine suffering. Dovizioso made the remarks during a new podcast on his YouTube channel.

Bagnaia’s competitive decline became particularly visible after he narrowly missed out on a third world title in 2024. He won only once in 2025 and struggled to build confidence in the front end of the GP25. The main difficulty in 2026 has been a lack of rear grip that the other Ducati riders have not encountered. Bagnaia’s best results so far have been a handful of third-place finishes. That is a sharp change from the rider who won the MotoGP championship in 2022 and 2023.

Dovizioso does not see the problem as a routine sporting disappointment. He said he would like a clearer understanding of what the engineers and Bagnaia are thinking, while accepting that he cannot know what is really happening and declining to go further into personal matters. Ramon Forcada has said Ducati tried unconventional solutions in an effort to help Bagnaia, but without success. Bagnaia is expected to leave Ducati for Aprilia at the end of the year. Dovizioso considers the situation so serious that he cannot recall anything comparable during his years in MotoGP. His view carries added context: after joining Ducati in 2013, he helped the manufacturer return to race-winning form and challenged Marc Marquez for the 2017 title.
