LCR Honda has announced that Diogo Moreira will leave the team at the end of the 2026 MotoGP season. The Brazilian rookie has now been confirmed as a factory HRC rider for 2027, placing him alongside Fabio Quartararo in Honda’s official team. It is a major step for Moreira after his first campaign in the premier class.

Moreira has already produced a notable result during that debut season. His finish in the Motegi Sprint gave Honda its only official rostrum of the season up to that point, highlighting the speed behind his promotion to the factory operation. The move also puts him at the centre of Honda’s preparations for the next technical phase of MotoGP.

That phase begins in 2027 with 850cc engines and Pirelli tyres. Moreira’s departure is expected to make room for rookie David Alonso at LCR Honda, where he is set to line up alongside Johann Zarco. The pairing remains subject to the expected formal confirmation. LCR team principal Lucio Cecchinello praised Moreira as an exceptionally talented and fast rider, while also pointing to his determination, eagerness to learn, hard work and commitment during their season together.
