Alex Rins rules out WorldSBK move and plans to leave two-wheel racing
The Monster Yamaha rider says he had two WorldSBK possibilities but has chosen another, still undisclosed project instead.

Alex Rins has ruled out a move to WorldSBK next year, despite having two possibilities and being linked with a seat at Goeleven Ducati. Speaking before the weekend’s Misano round, the Monster Yamaha rider also said he intends to stop racing on two wheels.
Rins said he has another project in mind, but is not ready to reveal it because it is not yet fully complete. He explained that the alternative motivates him more than the WorldSBK options, while stopping short of identifying its category, team or role.
A significant change after 14 years in MotoGP
The decision marks a major turn for a rider who has spent approximately 14 years in MotoGP. Rins described the choice as difficult after experiencing many races, battles and victories in the championship. He is also described as a former race winner with both Suzuki and Honda.
Rins thanked the parties involved in his WorldSBK possibilities, saying they had shown significant interest in him. However, the available evidence does not establish that he rejected a formal contract or signed with any specific WorldSBK team.
A changing rider market
Rins’ decision comes amid a broader movement between MotoGP and WorldSBK. Jack Miller and Brad Binder have been officially confirmed as moving to WorldSBK, with Yamaha and BMW respectively. Franco Morbidelli is described as set to move from VR46 and swap seats with Nicolo Bulega at Aruba.it Ducati.
Rins’ alternative project remains undisclosed, and his plans for 2027 had not yet been confirmed. Maverick Vinales’ 2027 plans were also described as unconfirmed, so the wider market remains subject to change.
