Aldeguer undergoes surgery with Phillip Island start in doubt
The Gresini Ducati rider fractured his right hand at Mandalika and remains uncertain for the next Australian Grand Prix.

Fermín Aldeguer has completed surgery for the fracture to his right hand, but his place in the next Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island remains uncertain. The Gresini Ducati rider was injured at Mandalika after making rapid progress on the opening lap, moving from sixth to fourth before crashing at Turn 16.
The injury is a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in Aldeguer’s right hand. Dr Xavier Mir performed the operation in Spain after the rider returned from Indonesia. Aldeguer said he was OK and thanked Mir and his team. That update does not settle his availability for the next round, while Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi said he did not expect Aldeguer to be at Phillip Island.
This is Aldeguer’s third injury of 2026. The previous year’s Mandalika winner missed pre-season testing and the opening Thai round with a fractured femur, then sat out three races after fracturing a vertebra at Assen. He also recently had surgery to remove some of the metalwork from his left leg. Four rounds will remain after Australia, ahead of Aldeguer’s expected move to VR46 for Ducati’s new 850 cc era.
