Ai Ogura to miss Misano with second thumb-injury absence
The Trackhouse Aprilia rider will sit out a second consecutive MotoGP round after a left-thumb fracture.

Ai Ogura will miss the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano, extending his absence to a second consecutive MotoGP round. Trackhouse said a medical assessment found that the rider's left-thumb fracture had not healed enough for him to ride the Aprilia RS-GP.
The sequence began with Ogura's crash at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. He subsequently fractured his left thumb while training on a motocross bike in Japan, underwent surgery in Spain and missed the Aragon round to recover. He had hoped to return at Misano; the Red Bull Ring round is now identified as a possible comeback point, rather than a confirmed return date.
Trackhouse also cannot call on Lorenzo Savadori, the Aprilia test rider who replaced Ogura at Aragon, because he is unavailable for Misano. Raul Fernandez will therefore be the team's sole rider for the San Marino round.
A significant championship setback
The two missed rounds have dropped Ogura to fifth in the championship standings, 53 points behind leader Jorge Martin, Aprilia's factory rider. With only a limited number of rounds remaining, that deficit effectively ends the Japanese rider's serious title hopes, according to the assessment in the report.
The injury interrupts Ogura's second MotoGP season, which had developed into a breakthrough campaign. The 2024 Moto2 champion is the first Asia Talent Cup graduate to reach the premier class. He is set to leave Trackhouse for Yamaha at the end of 2026, making a strong return and finish to this season especially important.
