Yamaha has announced Álvaro Carpe as a new BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 rider for 2027. The Spaniard will take Izan Guevara’s place, with Guevara moving to the Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team for the following season. Alberto Ferrandez will remain with the programme and line up alongside Carpe.

Carpe’s promotion follows a strong rise through the junior categories. In 2024, he won both the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the FIM JuniorGP World Championship. He then entered Grand Prix racing with Red Bull KTM Ajo and has collected 11 podium appearances. Before making the move to Moto2, he has four more Moto3 opportunities in which to secure his maiden victory.

A new step in Yamaha’s rider pathway

Carpe is fourth in the Moto3 World Championship standings, a title already secured by Maximo Quiles. David Almansa and Brian Uriarte sit between Quiles and Carpe. Yamaha Racing managing director Paolo Pavesio described the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team as a destination for young riders aiming to develop their careers towards MotoGP. Pavesio also said Carpe had already shown the talent and potential needed to take the next step.

Guevara’s departure comes while he remains in contention for this year’s Moto2 crown. He heads into the Malaysian Grand Prix 5.5 points behind Manuel Gonzalez and is the only Boscoscuro rider inside the championship’s top seven. Ferrandez is 21st, with ninth as his best race finish. Pramac team principal Paolo Campinoti said the team would continue working with Yamaha on the BLU CRU project and praised Ferrandez’s adaptation to Moto2. For 2027, Pramac is also rumoured to be considering a switch from Boscoscuro to Kalex.
