KTM Ajo keeps Veijer and Rueda together in Moto2 for 2027
Red Bull KTM Ajo will retain its pair, with Veijer pursuing a MotoGP opportunity and Rueda continuing his adaptation to the intermediate class.

Red Bull KTM Ajo will run Collin Veijer and Jose Antonio Rueda in Moto2 again in 2027, keeping its rider pairing unchanged. Crash.net reported the confirmation, which preserves a partnership involving two riders at very different stages: Veijer is building a stronger case for a future MotoGP opportunity, while Rueda is still negotiating his rookie season in the intermediate class.
Veijer, 21, had won twice in Moto3 before moving to Moto2 with KTM Ajo in 2025. He has collected three podiums since then and currently sits tenth in the championship standings. The Dutchman regards the continuation as a sign that KTM and Red Bull still believe in his potential. His ambition is equally clear: he wants to move closer to a MotoGP seat and hopes that, when the opportunity arrives, it will be with KTM.
A significant Dutch connection
A possible MotoGP promotion for Veijer would matter beyond his own career. Michael van der Mark was the last Dutch rider to start a MotoGP race, in 2017. Jurgen van der Goorbergh was the most recent Dutchman to contest a complete MotoGP season, in 2002. The new contract is not a promotion announcement, but it gives Veijer another year inside the KTM Ajo structure to strengthen the case for that next move.
Rueda is taking a different route. The Moto3 champion is in his rookie Moto2 campaign and has an eighth-place finish as his best result so far. That season followed the life-threatening injuries he suffered at Sepang the previous year. Rueda said remaining with the team was his priority, and 2027 will be his fifth season with KTM Ajo.
Continuity with separate targets
Team manager Niklas Ajo said Veijer has developed through his past two years with the squad and has now shown the ability to take the next step towards the front of the class. He also pointed to signs of progress from Rueda despite the demands of his first Moto2 season. Ajo added that Rueda will become only the second rider after Brad Binder to complete five seasons with the team.
The unchanged line-up comes as Izan Guevara, Senna Agius, Dani Holgado and David Alonso prepare to move up to MotoGP next year. KTM Ajo will therefore enter 2027 with two distinct development objectives: Veijer will try to turn his progress into a credible MotoGP case, while Rueda continues establishing himself in Moto2 within a team that has backed him since his earlier stages of development.
