MV Agusta has confirmed that it is dealing with a period of temporary financial imbalance and has entered Italy’s Composizione Negoziata della Crisi (CNC). The framework is intended for companies with prospects of recovery and is designed to support a structured response to financial pressure. The announcement follows reports about funding, sales and the future of motorcycle production, but the company limits its clarification to matters it can present as established.

MV Agusta does not present the CNC as a bankruptcy announcement. It describes the procedure as a structured process supported by independent professionals, allowing the company to assess its position, engage with stakeholders and identify measures to rebalance and relaunch the business. According to the company, access to the framework requires concrete prospects for recovery.

The statement does not confirm whether motorcycle production has stopped. No firm conclusion can therefore be drawn from it about the condition of the factories or the status of deliveries. That remains the key unanswered point in the reports that preceded the company’s clarification.

The transition after KTM

Following its separation from the KTM Group, Art of Mobility, controlled by the Sardarov family, reacquired 100% of MV Agusta. The company describes the break as a significant transition because the two organisations had become highly integrated. Since then, management says it has been working to progressively restore MV Agusta’s autonomy, internal processes and the conditions needed for regular operations and its future development.

At the same time, Art of Mobility has assessed possible changes to MV Agusta’s shareholding structure. The official statement does not identify the parties involved. It says some opportunities were examined in depth before being judged unviable, while others failed to meet the necessary standards of substance and reliability. Other parties and scenarios remain under evaluation, with no agreement announced.

Earlier reports linked those discussions to CFMOTO and a possible acquisition of a 49% stake. MV Agusta does not name the Chinese manufacturer and does not confirm that specific proposal. CFMOTO’s involvement should therefore be treated as a third-party report, not as a deal, a final offer or an announced ownership change.

Registrations improved, but the wider problem remains

On the commercial side, MV Agusta says it recorded 2,166 global retail registrations during the first half of 2026. On a like-for-like basis, the comparable period of 2025 produced 2,094 units, which the company describes as a 3.4% increase. MV Agusta presents those figures as evidence that customer interest in the brand remains active despite the financial pressure.

Italy, identified as MV Agusta’s largest market, rose from 500 to 644 motorcycles, with reported growth of 28.8%. The company also reports positive results in France and the United States, giving growth figures of 42.3 and 24.2 respectively. The supplied text does not repeat a percent sign beside those two figures, so they are retained as reported numerical growth figures rather than being presented as fully specified percentages.

The registration increase does not remove the company’s difficulties. MV Agusta itself says the commercial results do not eliminate the operational and financial problems of the current phase. The CNC process, the shareholding discussions and the effort to restore independence are all parts of a situation that is still developing. For employees, partners, creditors and the dealer network, the central issue is whether the company can maintain continuity and consolidate its operations.

MV Agusta says it will not comment on individual rumours or reports based on partial information. Significant developments concerning the company’s corporate structure will be announced, it says, only when concrete and definitive conditions are in place. For now, the defensible picture is of a brand with measurable commercial demand, but also an open financial and operational rebalancing process whose outcome has not yet been announced.
