How to clean a motorcycle mesh jacket properly
Hand washing, safe drying and simple maintenance steps for keeping mesh riding gear clean and comfortable.

A mesh motorcycle jacket needs gentle, consistent care to remove dust, sweat and odours without putting unnecessary strain on its fabric or components. Before washing any riding gear, check its care label. Remove all armour and detachable linings, then zip up the pockets.
For a single stain, apply a small amount of mild detergent directly to the area and work it gently with a sponge. Heavy scrubbing can damage mesh. Rinse the spot with clean water to remove detergent residue. For a full clean, fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water, add a small amount of mild detergent and hand wash the jacket, agitating it gently for a few minutes. Rinse it thoroughly and do not use bleach.
Drying without stressing the mesh
Gently remove excess water without wringing or twisting the fabric, as this may distort its shape or damage the material. Hang the jacket to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Keep it away from direct sunlight and all heat sources. Do not tumble dry it, and do not iron it. Refit the armour and liner only after the jacket is completely dry.
Routine maintenance is just as straightforward. After every ride, brush off surface dust with a soft brush or cloth before it settles into the mesh. Occasionally spot clean sweat-prone areas such as the collar, cuffs and inner linings to limit odour build-up. If the jacket has a removable liner, wash it in the same way as the outer jacket to avoid shrinkage and distortion. In the same guide, Triumph lists the Triple Sports Mesh, Cranbourne Mesh, Triple Mesh and Braddan Retro Mesh.
